South Coast Collector Con, organised independently by South Coast Card Co with support from CW Events Hampshire, will take over Spinnaker Tower on Sunday 13 September from 7pm–11pm. The event will bring together 30+ vendor tables featuring Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Magic: The Gathering and other trading card games and collectibles, giving visitors the opportunity to buy, sell and trade while overlooking Portsmouth from the tower. Local gaming store DICE Portsmouth has also teamed up with South Coast Collector Con to provide a dedicated learn-to-play experience, teaching visitors how to play a variety of trading card games. Those feeling confident can even challenge one of the DICE teachers to a game — and win a prize if they beat them. South Coast Collector Con is the first independently organised convention from South Coast Card Co, following the team's involvement in Hampshire Collector Con in Winchester, which attracted almost 1,000 people. Portsmouth local and event organiser Josh Norton said: “Being from Portsmouth, bringing our first South Coast Collector Con to Spinnaker Tower feels really special. We want this to be more than somewhere to just buy cards — we want to bring the local collecting community together and give people who have never played a TCG before the chance to get involved too. “Having DICE Portsmouth supporting the event is brilliant because someone could walk through the doors having never played before and leave having learned their first game.” Tickets include admission to the event and access to Spinnaker Tower, with food and drink available during the evening.
